Handy guides but quite long.Read it fast unless confused
Main hints:
1)Enemies seem to have more mana.But they are not as powerful as you think.None of them have maxed out his/her level besides the TOP 7.
2)If you have less than 6 mana burn level, you can ensure your victory if your enemy has 0 mana and you have little.Simple rest-->mana burn-->rest,etc
3)Poison Water will never be the great mage.
4)Computer will not burn your mana if less than 13.
Chaos Fire:
Clan contest: 3 high attacks 2 mana burn.Mana burn tactics(Keep burning until their mana is 0 then burn-> attack to the end.
Old mage: 3 mana burn 4 high attacks will be enough.
Young Mage contest:Same tactics.5 high attacks 4 low attacks 4 burn.
Good:Too easy.Same tactics.
Evil:When they come for revenge watch out for red fire!Ready with 4 low defend and use defend-attack

Climbing the ladder:(FOR MAX LEVEL)
Vs chaos:Mana burn
Vs Ice:Twice for 100% win
Vs Dark Fire:Low attack and enjoy!
Vs Red:twice only
Vs poison:Enjoy.
Vs sea water:Mana burn only and not 100%.Don't counter attack unless you have 10 hp left/after resting will be his turn and he will burn you.If he has 0 mana and you are alive,you won.
For senior and powerful sea water,try attacking them and see what happens

GM Election:Only threat will be Sea Water.You can skip it by being good.Ice water will challenge you then.For Red fire have more than 218 mana.

Overall:Worth playing.Can't get God or Satan as you can't get rank 1.The sea water head has 350 mana for now.My best record is 5th place.

Ice water:
Clan contest:Same as chaos.3 High Attack 2 Mana burn.Burn along the way.
Old mage:same as chaos.4 HA 3 burn.
Young mage:5 HA 5LD 3MB.Watch out for poison water.
Good/Evil:NONO You can actually CHOOSE!Either way brings you Rank ONE and you can be the GREAT MAGE easily.

Climbing ladder:(MAX LEVEL)
Vs chaos:Mana burn+Freeze 2
Vs ice:Freeze 2.You can attack when he/she has 5 special points so he/she will waste it.If you are lazy to do it,you can still win.
Vs dark:Low attack and Freeze 2.most important is to enjoy!

Vs sea water:Attack the senior and powerful!Burn the Ranked and Master!For CLAN LEADER, let him burn 5/6 times and leave you with 18 mana!(do the maths yourself)Then freeze 2,high attack.He will heal and High attack,High Attack again he will be left at 50 Life.Then you can rest/mana burn/high defend all the way but be sure NOT to have more than 13 mana after you rest!!Then you can use freeze 2 before he use heal 2 again(since you get the 20th spec. point first) FREEZE AND ATTACK!FINISHED!RANK 4! THE REST ARE PIECES OF CAKES!

Vs red fire:mana burn for the first turn.Then low defense and low attack.I call it 'Poison Water Tactics'
Vs poison water:enjoy!

GM election:Short and Sweet.No single threat at all.
Overall:Very worth playing.You can have the GOD title!

i think this is a very good game, and i like that the sequel starts only a few years after this one, gives the impression that if you beat this game, you are straining to beat yourself in the sequel. decent game play, and the many clan choices give it excelent replay value, i wonder if there will be a third, even better game? if you are considering making one, my big suggestion, and my dream, even, is too have a Book of Mages multiplayer option =). Anyway, gratz to anyone who beats this game, and the guides really do help. so, in closing, thank you very much for creating this game, and i am still enjoying the sequel, even after my 13th play through it ^_^.

13!!!?? IMPRESSIVE :)

Finally figured out how to make it to rank 1 in the book of mages. Anyone else manage this? It's actually fairly simple. The most challenging is the 2nd ranking mage, the Ice Water leader, with 450 starting mana. However the number one rank has 500 starting mana.

i like the Great picture of a Chaos Fire Mage it would be good if there pic of all 6 type of mages it and there was like a gallery on side of the Book of Mages and number 2 and on book of mages 1 red fire clan i think is easyest to win and chaos mage for book of mages number 2
